Cyclist Magazine, Brian Robinson Portrait Shoot

I was extremely fortunate to be asked by Cyclist magazine to shoot Yorkshire Cycling legend Brian Robinson for the magazine. It was my first commission for Cyclist, which is a magazine I really admire, so I was thrilled to be asked in the first place. When the feature was bumped up from a 3 page one to an 8 page story with a coverline I was incredibly pleased.

I think the layout and design are fantastic, thank you Rob.

The interview, which is written by Mark Bailey, is a read that’s as interesting and lovely as Brian himself.

I’m looking foward to an upcoming shoot with Cyclist.

On Wednesday I shot the Hepworth Wakefield in Yorkshire. The Hepworth Wakefield is a stunning piece of architecture by David Chipperfield Architects and a member of the brilliant Welcome to Yorkshire. As an art gallery it’s mission is to make world-class art more accessible in the Yorkshire region and beyond.

This building is just stunning. All clean lines and beautiful concrete. It’s very relaxing shooting architecture and thinking about what the architect had in mind when they designed it about where and how the light would fall.

Welcome to Yorkshire:

I’ve known Dominique Attwood for years having shot with her many times for the lovely Leeds Museums and Galleries.

Dom asked me to work with her on a project which took six months from initial discussions to final imagery. We put a team together of stylist, hair & make-up and models for two location shoots. For Dom’s first shoot art directing a twenty strong team was ambitious but everyone worked together so well that hopefully we’ll put this team together again as we shoot the new season’s clothing and accessories.

We shot beautiful items from Owen Barry of Somerset and Shepherd of Sweden amongst others.

Dom chose the Star Inn at Harome a Michelin Starred restaurant, it has the most amazing chef’s table, which is on my non-existent bucket list. If I had one it would be on it.

The Star Inn is a beautiful venue and we were made to feel very welcome the whole time we were shooting on a beautiful sun lit day.

We shot on location at Almscliffe Crags and again had fabulous light. When the rain came through it was backlit so we could show the clothing working with the elements.

Lovely shoot, great team, beautiful clothing.

Northern Ballet asked me to do a shoot to publicise their ballet Cinderella to beautiful Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumbria with Gavin & Alice, dancers from NB. We shot the dancers in costume for Cinderella & the idea was to blend the dancers with the stunning environment that is Seaton Delaval Hall.

We were spoilt for backdrops because this is such an amazing building. Images shown were shot on stairway, tapestry room & the incredible stables.

Mark Warr of the National Trust looked after us as we moved around this amazing hall and it was an lovely shoot to be part of.

new site and a blog. Have to start off with the lovely Rachel Gillespie, from one of my favourite backstage shoots with Northern Ballet - Cleopatra
